Iziaih Choquette
Youth Advisory Council Member
Iziaih Choquette is an overall Humanitarian with advocate and lived experience expertise in Youth Services, Formerly Incarcerated, Communities of Color, and the LGBTQIA+ community. They currently serve on three boards that deal specifically with youth homelessness, the BIPOC community, and the LGBTQ+ community. They are going to Los Angeles city College for Sociology and Korean Language and Culture. Iziaih has lived a life full of hard lessons and consequences that exist solely because of a society unable to acknowledge the vast and varying human experiences we all have. They have lived with the identity of Black, Queer, Non-Binary, and Homeless, in a society that would shame them for all these, even though they are not choices. With this expertise they have been able to lead and spearhead work and conversations that have generated real change and given space to new voices that were once silenced.
Iziaih is now the Co-Chairperson of HYFLA, Co-Founder of SPA 4 YASC, and member of the Point Source Youth YAC, and with these seats, they hope to create and new Youth Homeless system that gives shared power and access to all those it serves and employs. They hope to leave the homeless service space when Youth have only 2 to 4 hours max of housing insecurity. They look to the future with an eye full of blossoming and budding ideas that will bring about an amazing botanical jungle of support and resources to help youth thrive and no longer survive.
