Building on the incredibly successful Direct Cash Transfer (DCT) model Point Source Youth (PSY) has co-created alongside partners, PSY is partnering with GreenLight Fund Baltimore to launch its new DCT program—the CARE (Cash Assistance, Resources, and Engagement) Baltimore Initiative. PSY is working with Baltimore youth consultants and community partners to co-design the Baltimore DCT pilot, which is designed to test and improve upon community models for supporting young people to thrive in safe, stable housing without needing to enter the homelessness system. The technical assistance provided by PSY will center on implementing effective, youth-driven practices to emphasize youth trust and end youth homelessness. Learn about the CARE initiative here.

The PSY Youth Advocacy Fellowship is presented by Point Source Youth is supported by ViiV Healthcare’s Positive Action Community Grant Program. The Fellowship builds on PSY’s mission to end youth homelessness by prioritizing housing and care solutions that have proven success rates, such as direct cash transfers and peer navigation interventions. The goal of the Youth Advocacy Fellowship is to increase the capacity of youth leaders to participate in, and ultimately lead, local and national policy advocacy campaigns as it pertains to innovative, affirming, and youth-driven solutions to homelessness, particularly Direct Cash Transfers (DCTs) and supportive services like peer navigation. Learn about the Youth Advocacy Fellowship here.

The Point Source Youth (PSY) National Youth Empowerment and Mentorship Initiative is presented by Point Source Youth and is supported by ViiV Healthcare’s Positive Action Community Grant Program. The Initiative empowers Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous and People of Color (QTBIPOC) young leaders to step into their power, train, and advocate for more leadership, peer navigation and/or mentorship programs for QTBIPOC youth.
The initiative consists of 10 National Youth Advocates that will collaborate with 5 local organizations to launch 1-3 new youth empowerment and mentorship programs. In year 1, the initiative will recruit 50 youth mentors who will lead peer navigation, leadership training, and support groups around the country (virtually and/or in-person). Learn more about the initiative here.

Direct Cash Transfers as Prevention (DCT-P) is a scalable, youth-driven solution to prevent youth homelessness. This intervention is a one-time cash payment to young people based on the cost of living in that community with the goal of preventing them from entering homelessness in the first place. Alongside the unconditional cash payment are services provided by a local community-based organization that might include housing navigation, financial counseling, and peer support.
Our groundbreaking initiative is designed to test and improve upon community models for supporting young people to thrive in safe, stable housing without needing to enter the homelessness system. This initiative, presented by Point Source Youth, is supported by Raikes Foundation, Schultz Family Foundation, Trinity Church Wall Street, and the NYC Fund to End Youth & Family Homelessness.
