Innovation, Imagination, and Impact: Youth-led Roundtable on Direct Cash Transfers
Hear from young adults who have been leading the way for the national movement to place power and resources in the hands of young people. Learn about the origins of Direct Cash Transfers (DCTs) as a reparative and restorative justice movement for equity, and hear how the vision for the future of giving young people the cash they're owed must be centered in imagination, innovation, and real impact.
Breakout Sessions
10:45 AM - 12:00 PM
Expanding the Advocacy Landscape: Policy Implications of Direct Cash Transfers
Implementing Direct Cash Transfers has implications that extend beyond the program and into adjacent spaces like federal and state benefits for young people. Hear policymakers discuss how to receive approval for DCTs through state funds, mitigate loss of benefits for young people, and how to leverage policy shifts in the advocacy to expand cash as care to young people across the country. This conversation will include reflections on how to successfully and sustainably frame DCTs to federal policymakers.
10:45 AM - 12:00 PM
Funding the Movement for DCTs: Building a Philanthropic Collective
This funders-only breakout session will be led by PSY funding partners as they discuss best practices for approaching philanthropy by focusing on both traditional and non-traditional partners. Attendees will learn about the budgeting/fundraising needs for a 24-month DCT program and a one-time payment DCT-P program model. Participants will also have the opportunity to join PSY's funding collective, which aims to leverage philanthropic reach, power, and access to expand Direct Cash Transfer for youth programs across the country.
10:45 AM - 12:00 PM
Implementing Direct Cash Transfers: Lessons Learned
In this session, attendees will hear best practices in administering Direct Cash Transfers programs for young adults including how to meaningfully implement youth-led program design and integrating harm reduction and trauma-informed care principles into all aspects of DCT programs. Attendees will also hear from Point Source Youth DCT Pilot partners in Oregon, New York City, and San Francisco and have the opportunity to learn more about program implementation updates, lessons learned, and centering young people.
10:45 AM - 12:00 PM
"Nothing for us, without us": Centering Youth Power in Direct Cash Transfer Programs
