THANK YOU tO OUR 600 ATTENDEES!
Thank you to the 600 folks who joined us for our 2nd Annual Rural Conference on Youth Homelessness. Rural communities in the U.S. are national communities, they exist in every part of this country. We all stand to learn from rural communities and apply that to our communities nationwide.
Watch, Re-watch and Share all Recordings from the 2nd Annual Rural Conference on Youth Homelessness!
Due to the lack of national conversations centering Rural communities, many of us might not know that some of the folks we serve, work with, or rely on are based in rural areas.
Metronormativity (the dangerous idea that queer folks cannot have vibrant, liberated experiences in rural areas), classism, racism, and structural oppression are responsible for the erasure of rural communities from national youth homelessness conversations and the violent erasure and elimination of QTBIPOC people from rural conversations.
Intentionally denied resources that many urban and suburban communities receive, Rural communities have requested a national platform for gathering, shared compassion, mutual aid, and more.
