John Kimble

John Kimble serves as an independent advisor to philanthropic institutions and nonprofit organizations on issues related to housing, homelessness, community development, and impact investing. He was most recently the Vice President of Philanthropic Initiatives in Deutsche Bank’s Community Development Finance Group, where he managed the bank’s community development grant-making and philanthropic investment fund. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, John served as the Assistant Commissioner of Strategic Planning at the New York City Department of Housing Preservation & Development, the New Orleans Public Policy Director of the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations after Hurricane Katrina, and the coordinator of the City of Oakland’s anti-predatory mortgage lending coalition. John has also practiced real estate finance law as an associate at Latham & Watkins. He is the author of “Insuring Inequality: The Role of the Federal Housing Administration in the Urban Ghettoization of African Americans,” published in Law & Social Inquiry. He holds a J.D. from Stanford Law School, a B.A. from Princeton University, and is originally from New Orleans.
