Mónica (she/her/ella), originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, strives to ground her work and everyday life in radical love and empathy. She is currently based in Tallahassee, FL, and joined the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence in 2021, where she serves as the Prevention Specialist. In this capacity, Mónica helps support sexual violence prevention initiatives across Florida, the South, and the rest of the country and centers intersectional and anti-oppressive frameworks. She also collaborates with Point Source Youth (PSY) as a returning National Youth Leader in the National Youth Empowerment and Mentorship Initiative's Positive Action for Youth Cohort, where she contributes to PSY’s work to end youth homelessness. Additionally, Mónica serves as the Vice President of Tallahassee Southern Model United Nations’ Board, a non-profit organization that advocates for the importance of an internationalized education for middle and high school students Mónica is a 2021 graduate of Florida State University and earned a B.S. in International Affairs with a concentration in Public Administration. She has interned with the International Rescue Committee as a Casework Intern, providing advocacy and essential services to the refugee population in Tallahassee, Florida, and with the Tallahassee/Leon County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls as a Research Intern. In her free time, she enjoys going to the movie theater, hanging out with her friends and family, and, unfortunately, endlessly scrolling on TikTok.
