Host Homes & the Ballroom Community: Uplifting Innovative, Affirming Housing Solutions for Youth

Throughout history, we’ve seen communities that face exclusion create sustainable, loving solutions to house one another in the face of widespread systems failure to ensure that everyone has the equal right to safe, accessible housing and supports. This is especially true for Ballroom communities across the U.S. As we uplift innovative housing solutions and supportive services that work to affirm youth, we must center and champion the legacies of QTBIPOC communities in showing up for one another through mutual aid, care, love, and creativity. Hear ballroom houses discuss the ways that they have implemented host homes-style programs, best practices for respecting, honoring, protecting, and collaborating with ballroom communities, and learn how to get funding and support for ballroom host home communities to strengthen the work already being done in our communities.
